Emergency calls are dispatched to the nearest van with a live arrival window. Scheduled work is usually booked within 48 hours.

Four reasons customers stay with us

Round-the-clock response

A real plumber answers at 3 a.m., not a voicemail box. Our emergency target is 60 minutes inside the service area.

Diagnose, then quote

We find the cause before we price the work, so the number you approve is the number on the invoice.

Plumbing and water quality

One team for the pipes and for what runs through them, so softener and filtration work is sized to your actual plumbing.

Respect for the house

Boot covers, drop sheets, and a tidy site. We photograph anything you cannot see yourself before we close the wall.

A local trade business, not a call centre with vans

Akroatic started with one van, one licensed plumber, and a simple rule: explain the problem in plain language and fix it once. Fifteen years later we still work that way, with a team small enough that the person answering the phone knows the job.

We work on houses, rentals, and small commercial sites. Most of what we do comes from referrals and repeat customers rather than advertising, which is exactly how we want it.

What a master plumber licence actually means

A master licence is the top tier of the trade. It requires years of documented field hours as an apprentice and journeyman, a written exam on code and water safety, and continuing education to stay current with the plumbing code.

In practice it means the person planning your job is allowed to pull permits, sign off on gas and water connections, and is accountable to the licensing board for the work. Ask any contractor for their licence number before they touch your water supply, including us.

Permits pulled properly

Water heater swaps, repipes, and sewer work are inspected and documented, so your insurance and your next home sale both hold up.

We test, we do not guess

Hardness, pressure, and water chemistry are measured on site. Filtration is specified from the readings, never from a catalogue package.

The same faces

No rotating subcontractors. The plumber who quoted the job is the plumber who shows up to do it.

Scale is not just a cosmetic problem

White crust on the taps, spotted glassware, and soap that will not lather are the visible signs. The expensive part happens out of sight, where scale coats the inside of pipes and the heating element of your water heater.

  • Water heaters lose efficiency and fail years early
  • Shower valves and cartridges seize up
  • Dishwashers and washing machines need more detergent
  • Skin and hair feel dry after every shower

Smart shut-off valves

A monitored valve on the main line learns your normal usage and closes automatically when it sees the signature of a burst pipe, then alerts your phone. We install, commission, and service them.

Point sensors

Wireless pucks behind the washer, under the sink, and beside the water heater. Cheap insurance for the three places that flood most often, with no plumbing changes required.

Questions we get every week

A diagnostic visit carries a flat call-out fee that is quoted on the phone before we come, and it is credited against the job if you go ahead with the repair the same visit.

Our target is 60 minutes inside the core service area, any hour of any day. If we are further out, the dispatcher gives you a realistic window and tells you how to shut the water off in the meantime.

Yes. We diagnose first, then hand you a written flat price. If we find a second problem behind the first, work stops and you get a separate price to approve.

For water heaters, repipes, gas lines, and sewer work we pull the permit and meet the inspector. You get the signed paperwork for your records.

A unit under eight years old with a failed element or thermostat is usually worth repairing. Past ten years, or with a rusted tank or weeping seams, replacement is the cheaper answer over its remaining life.

A softener removes hardness minerals, not contaminants. If drinking water quality is the goal, that is reverse osmosis or targeted filtration, and we specify it from a water test rather than a guess.
